Port of New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA
After teaming up to form a joint venture, The McDonnel Group and Primus Builders are pleased to announce that they have been awarded a Design/ Build project in conjunction with The Port of New Orleans and New Orleans Cold Storage.
The project was awarded after a very competitive qualifying and proposal process. The McDonnel/Primus team worked diligently to ensure that all client design needs were met. Their winning solution was a result of combining McDonnel's local contractor expertise and presence with Primus' cold storage experience and proven industry record.
“This new facility will truly be the model for refrigerated maritime warehousing," said Matthew Hirsch, Vice President of Sales for Primus Builders. "Energy-saving technology and operational efficiency measures throughout the facility will result in great improvements to New Orleans Cold Storage's bottom line. The project shows continued
commitment on all levels to the rehabilitation of the City of
New Orleans, and we are proud to be a part of it.”
The new waterside project involves the design and construction of a 142,000 SF cold storage facility to house food products; the facility will have the capability to blast freeze product for direct vessel loading for export.
The energy-efficient project will feature a 35 million-pound cold storage capability and a 1.2 million-pound per day blast freezing capacity. Other highlights include railway access, Kalman shrink compensating slabs, two-stage NH3 refrigeration system, and LED warehouse lighting.
