VersaCold
GOULDSBORO, PA VersaCold Group is an international cold storage and chilled chain logistics provider based in Vancouver, Canada. VersaCold has 84 facilities located in Canada, the US, Australia and Europe.
VersaCold decided to build a new Greenfield Freezer facility in Northeast Pennsylvania. Primus Builders worked closely with VersaCold to develop preliminary floorplans and site plans, then worked with the real estate community to identify and evaluate numerous sites based on development cost, permitting schedule, labor availability, etc. Once the site was selected, Primus performed design and construction for the facility.
The project includes 345,000 SF, with approximately 250,000 SF of -10˚F/-20˚F frozen food/ice cream storage; 50,000 SF of refrigerated dock; and 45,000 SF of ancillary space consisting of an engine room, battery charging and office support area. The storage area maintains a minimum of 40’ clear throughout.
There are 59 dock positions with vertically-storing hydraulic levelers. The project also includes an ammonia refrigeration system with penthouses, Tyco Ultra K fire protection with no in-rack sprinklers and a “Kalman” shrink-compensating slab.
