Primus Builders was awarded the contract for a 132,800 SF freezer expansion at VersaCold Corporation’s Dawson Facility in Winnipeg, Canada. The Dawson Facility is a 4.7 million cubic foot facility in the Manitoba province. It has multiple temperature rooms which mainly handle dairy products, fish, pork and packaged goods. The facility handles significant blast-freezing volumes and is approved by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. Included in the scope of the work are a -5˚/-20˚ freezer, 8 blast cells, 28 dock positions, deep foundation system, a Kalman Floor system, new asphalt, new fire pump, and a new transformer. The freezer slab will use a Kalman Tension Ring Floor system. Construction began in May 2008 and is expected to be completed in early 2009.
