Americold Logistics, one of Primus Builders’ long-standing repeat clients, engaged Primus for a renovation and freezer addition to their Salt Lake City facility, which houses frozen food products for their clients. For this project, Primus closely collaborated with local authorities to bring this fast-track project to completion.
Primus worked diligently with the local power provider and negotiated incentives to pay for upgraded, energy-efficient LED lighting fixtures and an upgraded central ammonia refrigeration system. Primus also worked in close coordination with the challenging City of Salt Lake Building Department to secure permitting for the project. Primus succeeded and was able to turn over Phase I of the project (about 160,000 SF) in 3.5 months.
Key features of this project include insulated metal panel work, which Primus self-performed, and a shrink-compensating floor. Primus also was faced with the challenge of imposing higher-than-maximum loads on the existing roof, and overcame this issue through diligent engineering, dispersing weight to other areas of the building.
