Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation is the largest poultry processing company in the United States and the second largest in Mexico. Pilgrim’s owns and operates 37 poultry processing plants, 12 prepared food plants and 1 turnkey processing plant.
Pilgrim’s Pride needed to expand operations at its Elberton, Georgia, processing plant and chose Primus Builders for the demolition, conversion and renovation of an interior portion of its facility (approximately 9,775 SF) and the construction of a new wet cooler addition (approximately 2,180 SF). In compliance with USDA regulations, the facility remained in operation during the renovation and expansion process.
The expansion includes a +45˚ F process room, a +45˚ F ingredient room, a new +35˚ F wet cooler and a new compressor room. Primus was responsible for the provisioning of properly-sized utilities to service all building-related systems during the process.
