Wayne Farms, the nation’s fourth-largest poultry processor, engaged Primus Builders for construction of a new, state-of-the-art process line in their Decatur West Plant. The fully automated, technologically-driven line produces fully roasted chicken strips, diced meat, breaded and roasted filets, chicken tenders and wings. The plant was constructed with materials and methods that maximize advanced food safety and bio-security measures.
The 46,000 SF expansion of process line 53 features individual quick frozen (IQF) processes and an automated tumbling and marinating system for raw product. The line produces 16,000 pounds of fully cooked chicken per hour and features a state-of-the-art spiral freezer system.
To prevent cross-contamination, there is a physical separation between raw and cooked meats, including separate employee welfare areas such as break rooms and entrances. The line became operational in April of 2008.
