260,000 SF “box-in-box” Freezer/Cooler Expansion

Quantum Foods is a meat processing company in Bolingbrook, IL. Established in 1990, Quantum has experienced substantial growth over the past few years.

Quntum recently purchased an existing ambient building with the intention of converting it into a refrigerated warehouse facility. Quantum selected Primus Builders, a design/build firm that specializes in refrigerated and frozen food facilities to execute the project.

Within the existing 260,000 SF building, the following was constructed:

• 44,000 SF dry storage with floor convertible to freezer
• 44,000 SF cooler convertible from +29° to -10° freezer
• 25,000 SF 35° dock
• 120,000 SF -10° freezer

The project includes ammonia refrigeration, dry pre-action fire protection system with overhead dry pendant heads, wall and ceiling insulated panels (self-performed) and structural drive-in and pushback racking.
