FreshPoint is one of the largest produce distributors in North America. Owned by Sysco, a Fortune 100 company, FreshPoint has 31 distribution locations that deliver produce, fresh dairy products and fancy foods to customers in the United States and Canada. Their Turlock, California facility houses locally grown produce that is distributed to retail and food service customers in Northern California and Western Nevada.


With demand on the rise, FreshPoint elected to expand this facility and selected Primus to perform design-build services. Highlights of the 70,000 SF cooler and dock expansion include:

  • Expanded cooler with three temperature zones (35°F, 45°F and 50°F) to accommodate a wide-range of products for multiple vendors
  • 50 foot dock with 19 new dock positions that allow FreshPoint to effectively stage products and eliminate truck wait times
  • New water tank, fire pump and accessories to ensure ample fire protection services to the expansion
  • New domestic water well with treated water
  • 89 new employee parking spaces; 67 new truck spaces
  • 3,000 SF of employee welfare/office space
  • New battery charging area

The facility met all of California’s Title 24 requirements for sustainable components and building practices. Construction took place while the existing facility remains fully operational to ensure no disruption to daily activities.
