Exciting news was released at Primus’s company meeting last week! Chief Executive Officer and Founding Partner Richard O’Connell announced the promotion of Matthew Hirsch to President of Primus Builders, Inc. Hirsch previously served as Vice President of Sales. O’Connell will continue at Primus as Chief Executive Officer.
“Matt has been an integral part of Primus’s success since joining the team in 2007,” said O’Connell. “He has spearheaded technology and sustainability initiatives that have increased revenue and heightened our reputation as an industry leader. He is the natural choice to lead Primus into the future.”

Hirsch is a graduate of the Milwaukee School of Engineering where he earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering and operations management. His technical and analytical approach lends him the reputation as a hands-on problem solver committed to providing solutions that increase productivity and client profit. He has expertise in complete management of turn-key projects with attention to budget and critical deadlines.
Hirsch continuously expands his knowledge of the cold storage industry by remaining active in trade associations including the Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA), International Association of Refrigerated Warehouses (IARW), International Association for Cold Storage Construction (IACSC), World Food Logistics Organization (WFLO). International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration (IIAR) and the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA).
Matt’s commitment to the industry and outstanding customer service earned him a spot on ENR Southeast’s list of the Top 20 Under 40, a compilation of the industry’s rising stars under the age of 40.
