Benson’s has been a supplier of quality bakery products since 1918. Their business has grown from bread and fruitcakes to include a wide variety of branded and private-label cakes that are delivered to clients through a customized thaw and sell program. When it came time to expand, Benson’s selected Primus to provide turn-key design and construction services on their new 100,000 SF dry and cold storage distribution facility.
Cakes produced in the manufacturing facility are stored in the cold storage area. Temperatures range from -10° in the freezer to 40° on the dock. The dry storage area houses cake ingredients and is ambient temperature. There are eight dock doors in the cold storage area and nine in the dry storage area. Additional features include office space, locker rooms and an employee break room.
