CASE STUDY details

Case Farms has been producing high-quality chicken products since 1986. To meet the Southeast’s growing demand for responsibly raised poultry, Case Farms chose to expand one of its existing processing facilities in Dudley, NC.

This project included two phases that took place simultaneously. Phase 1 featured the design and construction of a -33° automated carton freezing solution (8,000 SF), its access corridor (16,000 SF) and a palletizing area (20,000 SF). Phase 2 featured the design and construction of a -10° storage freezer (50,000 SF) and its supporting office (62,000 SF). Including the dock and additional support spaces, the project totaled 150,000 SF.

This project featured the talents of Primus’s in-house automation design team. Vice President Randy Jennings created material flow diagrams that maximized the throughput of the equipment purchased by Case Farms. His efforts streamlined the production process and provided a safer and more economical processing solution.

The Dudley facility is an active chicken processing plant. Primus completed the construction phase with zero interruptions to ongoing activities. One of the innovative solutions the Primus design team implemented to achieve this was Point Cloud. A scan of the existing facility was uploaded to Revit and used
to accurately portray existing conditions. Conveyance and other equipment was imported into the model and could be checked for interferences before construction began.
