RL Cold

Primus provided design-build services for this 268,000 SF Greenfield cold storage distribution facility in Lula, Georgia. Developed by RL Cold, the facility was designed to support temperature-controlled food distribution and blast freezing operations while providing the flexibility required by modern cold chain networks.

The facility includes 181,000 SF of frozen storage space, freezer areas, refrigerated dock operations, and a two-story office with supporting employee and operational spaces. The building was designed to efficiently handle frozen food products from receipt through storage and distribution.

A key feature of the facility is its QFM blast freezing system, which supports rapid product freezing and helps maintain product quality throughout the cold chain. To improve operational efficiency, the project incorporates automated slatting and de-slatting solutions that streamline pallet handling during the blast freezing process, reducing manual handling requirements and supporting higher throughput.

The combination of frozen storage capacity, blast freezing operations, and automated material handling provides RL Cold and its tenants with a flexible platform for food storage, processing support, and regional distribution.
